How do I add the Cookie Control icon to my website for U.K. and E.U. privacy compliance?

A new law in the UK and EU forces website owners to get permission from their viewers before collecting any information about them in cookies.

BigBlackBag sites do not collect any information about the user from cookies however if you use Google Analytics, the Facebook 'Like' button, the Twitter 'Tweet' button, the LinkedIn, Pinterest or GooglePlus buttons then you will need to get their permission as these services do collect information about the viewer.

Fortunately there is a simple way to do inform your viewers that your site is using cookies and to gain their permission to do so and that is to add a CookieControl icon to your site. The steps for doing so are as follows:
  1. Visit, civicuk.com and customize how your icon will look and behave
  2. Copy and paste the supplied code into the Custom Header Metatag of your home page (the page you declared to load first when the website loads)
  3. Delete the line in the code that reads, "<script src="/PATH_TO_COOKIE_CONTROL/cookieControl-5.0.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>" - note the code may not be exactly the same
  4. Press Update to save your changes
There is no need to upload any code as instructed on the Cookie Control website as we have already done so.
